Your shed is designed & built for durability, and with a little maintenance will help keep it in great condition for the years to come.
Regular Cleaning & Care
- Wash the exterior every 3–12 months, as recommended for your Colorsteel environmental category, using mild soapy water and a soft brush. Visit www.colorsteel.co.nz/resources/warranty/ for more.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and avoid high-pressure washers.
- Keep gutters and roof clear of leaves and debris to prevent blockages, overflow and leaks.
- Ensure water drains away from the shed foundation.
- Lubricate hinges and wheels with a silicone-based spray annually to ensure smooth operation.
Inspect for Damage
- Minor scratches can be touched up with the recommended Colorsteel paint.
Protecting the Shed
- Do not store chemicals like fertiliser and chlorine directly against the steel as this can cause corrosion.
- Chemicals like weed control cannot be used near the shed, opt for and alternative method for weed control around the shed.
- Avoid leaning or stacking heavy items against the walls as this can damage the structural integrity of the shed
- Keep grass and debris clear from the base of the shed to deter pests.
- If you have pets, regularly wash the bottom of the cladding sheets to prevent corrosion from urine exposure.
- Keep any vents clear to allow airflow inside the shed.
